James Ludwar was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1996 and the Alberta Bar in 1999, and has spent 30 years representing individuals whose disability claims were denied or terminated by their insurers.
We founded this firm on a simple, powerful belief: that a thorough review of every detail and the unwavering determination to litigate a case all the way, if necessary, achieves far better results for our clients than settling too soon.

Our foundation has been significantly strengthened by the addition of Mark Dron. Mark spent nearly 20 years as Senior Counsel for one of Canada’s largest disability insurers.

James has dedicated his career to representing claimants whose insurers denied their benefits, often arguing they were not disabled, consistent, or credible enough. He is adept at building strong cases, preparing clients for litigation, and knowing when to pursue a better settlement.

Mark Dron
Former Senior Counsel for one of Canada’s largest disability insurers.
Mark understands what an insurer looks for when reviewing a file. He knows what prompts them to settle and what makes them resist. He is aware of the procedural errors they make that plaintiff counsel often overlooks, and he knows that those errors can be the difference between a standard settlement and a claim that also warrants aggravated damages, damages for mental distress, or punitive damages.

For over 21 years, Susan has been a foundational part of our firm. As our Senior Legal Assistant and Office Manager, she serves as the initial, welcoming voice for most clients and provides a steady, consistent presence behind every file. Her tenure with us surpasses the practising careers of most lawyers in this field.
